The whole building is aligned with the course of the sun, you are awakened by it in the morning and accompanied throughout the day. The bedrooms open to the east, so that the sun helps to start the day. Living room and kitchen are oriented to the south and therefore have light throughout the day. The building lives on the sun and its relationship to the exterior.
The warmth of wood was an important aspect of the project. We want the occupants of the house to be excited and enjoy the sun, as well as the sight and feel of the wood. Each room is filled with the smell of wood and designed to create the right emotion for the moment.
We have thought through all the possibilities for the function of each opening, which all are going more or less to the outside. In doing so we are always looking for the right degree of intimacy, openness, light and protection that each room needs. Whether it is a ray of light in the afternoon that illuminates the living room or tiny vertical holes that open to the street simultaneously providing us ventilation, lighting and privacy.The fireplace, open to both the living room and the dining room, is the center of the house. The roof, made of laminated timber structure and with breathable materials that we have brought from Switzerland, allows the house to breathe without opening the windows. The advanced aerothermal system avoids the installation of solar panels and offers an even greater energy efficiency than these.
