FOREST HOUSE
Oleiros
What makes this place special are the oak trees, which create an incredible atmosphere that no architecture could ever create. That is why we have taken the responsibility to keep as many trees as possible. The house must belong to the forest and, therefore this architecture must be something almost archaic, timeless.
A sequence of living spaces is created in which the boundaries between inside and outside are deliberately blurred.
Sunlight filters through the leaves which fall in autumn and then let the warmth of the sun pass in winter. Openings in the heavy concrete roof slab let the forest penetrate the house and give space to the existing oak trees. Those courtyards bring the changing colors of the seasons inside the house, blurring the lines between interior and exterior. The roof overhangs protect from the sun and extend the interior space. The bedrooms are more introverted places where the openings to the outside are more controlled.
The architecture of the house gives a sense of shelter and home, while at the same time, you feel like you are surrounded by a forest of which you are a part.
