We were looking for an atmosphere suitable for working, concentrating, socializing and resting. The aim was to recover the soul of the oceanographic building and to make the courtyard the heart of the building, surrounded by 5 pillars on which the 15x15m hyperbolic paraboloid rests.
On the roof, the reflections of the water will give lightness to the heavy structure of large dimensions. From the entrance, the wood invites us to the researche´s office. The wooden staircase resting on a concrete slab connects with the remaining building and invites us to climb towards the warmth of the offices. All fixtures allow the flexibility of the building to adapt to any change of use that might appear through ever-changing technologies.
We hope that everyone who works here enjoys this place at all times and wants to come back the next morning to take another step forward in science.
