We wanted to transform this place into a space of reference in the city, recovering its origin as a place of meeting and relations between citizens in a space of consensus, in which the forces of democracy are represented by monumentality. We seek the interaction with nature to create a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere of well-being and tranquility. Ferrol, for the people, is the goal.
With the pedestrianization of the three adjoining streets, the unitary character of the space is enhanced and becomes a whole. In the center of the square a water area, consisting only of a thin layer of water, is generated. It is designed in such a way that, by stopping the water supply, this area becomes part of the square and can be used for any purpose.
The lighting maximizes the number of light points and minimizes the number of supports allowing an area to enjoy the square at any time of the day.
We are creating places that encourage the relationship between people, places to sit in the sun or shade, places that give back the square to the citizens.
